How We Calculate Glycemic Load

This tool helps estimate the total Glycemic Load (GL) of a meal, which indicates how much a food will raise a person's blood glucose level after eating it.

The Formula:

Glycemic Load = (Glycemic Index × Grams of Carbohydrates) / 100

We calculate the GL for each ingredient you add and then sum them up for a total meal GL.

GL Scale for a Meal:
  • Low: 10 or less
  • Medium: 11 to 19
  • High: 20 or more
