GI vs. GL Explained
This tool helps you understand the blood sugar impact of a food.
Glycemic Index (GI):This is a score from 0-100 that ranks a carbohydrate-containing food by how much it raises blood glucose levels. It's a fixed value for each food.
Glycemic Load (GL):This is a more practical measure because it considers both the GI and the amount of carbohydrates in a specific serving size. It tells you the actual impact of what you eat.
The Formula:Glycemic Load = (GI × Grams of Carbohydrates in a serving) / 100
GL Scale for a single food:- Low: 10 or less
- Medium: 11 to 19
- High: 20 or more
