Weight Lifting Calories Burned Calculator
How We Estimate Calories
This calculator uses the MET (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) formula to estimate calories burned during exercise. It's a scientifically validated method for calculating energy expenditure.
The Formula:Total Calories Burned = Duration (in minutes) * (MET * 3.5 * Body Weight in kg) / 200
What is a MET?A MET value represents the energy cost of an activity. A MET of 1 is equivalent to the energy you burn at rest. Weight lifting MET values depend on the intensity:
- Moderate Effort: 3.5 METs (Typical for general strength training with moderate rest between sets)
- Vigorous Effort: 6.0 METs (Typical for intense circuits, supersets, or powerlifting with minimal rest)
By providing your weight, duration, and intensity, the calculator can give you a reliable estimate of the calories you've burned.
