How We Estimate Calories

This calculator uses the MET (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) formula to estimate calories burned during exercise. It's a scientifically validated method for calculating energy expenditure.

The Formula:

Total Calories Burned = Duration (in minutes) * (MET * 3.5 * Body Weight in kg) / 200

What is a MET?

A MET value represents the energy cost of an activity. A MET of 1 is equivalent to the energy you burn at rest. Jumping rope has different MET values depending on your pace:

  • Slow Pace (<100 skips/min): 8.8 METs
  • Moderate Pace (100-120 skips/min): 11.8 METs
  • Fast Pace (>120 skips/min): 12.3 METs
