Cycling Calories Burned Calculator
How We Estimate Calories
This calculator uses the MET (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) formula to estimate calories burned during exercise. It's a scientifically validated method for calculating energy expenditure.
The Formula:Total Calories Burned = Duration (in minutes) * (MET * 3.5 * Body Weight in kg) / 200
What is a MET?A MET value represents the energy cost of an activity. A MET of 1 is equivalent to the energy you burn at rest. Cycling has different MET values depending on the speed:
- Leisurely Pace (~16-19 km/h | 10-12 mph): 6.0 METs
- Moderate Pace (~20-22 km/h | 12-14 mph): 8.0 METs
- Vigorous Pace (~23-26 km/h | 14-16 mph): 10.0 METs
By providing your weight, duration, and cycling speed, the calculator can give you a reliable estimate of the calories you've burned.
