Factoring Trinomials Calculator
How to Factor Trinomials
This calculator factors trinomials of the form \(ax^2 + bx + c\) using the generic rectangle method.
Factoring: \( ax^2 + bx + c \)
- Set up the grid: Place the \(ax^2\) term in the top-left box and the constant \(c\) in the bottom-right.
- Find two numbers: Find two numbers that multiply to \(ac\) and add to \(b\).
- Fill the grid: Place the two numbers found (as terms with 'x') into the empty boxes.
- Factor GCF: Find the Greatest Common Factor (GCF) of each row and column. These will be the terms of your binomial factors.
