How to Estimate Safe Exposure Time

This tool estimates the maximum time you should be exposed to a noise level per day to minimize the risk of hearing damage, based on NIOSH guidelines.

1. Enter Noise Level:

Input the average noise level in A-weighted decibels (dBA). Examples: Normal conversation is ~60 dBA, a lawnmower is ~90 dBA, and a loud concert is ~110 dBA.

2. Calculate:

The calculator will show the maximum recommended exposure time for that noise level within a 24-hour period.

CRITICAL SAFETY DISCLAIMER

This calculator provides a simplified estimate for educational purposes ONLY. It is NOT a substitute for professional audiological advice or a certified OSHA/NIOSH assessment.

Noise-induced hearing loss is permanent and depends on many factors. The safest option is always to reduce the volume, increase your distance from the source, and use hearing protection (like earplugs or earmuffs) in loud environments.

If you have concerns about your hearing or noise exposure, consult a doctor or audiologist.
