Walking Calories Burned Calculator
This calculator uses the MET (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) formula to estimate calories burned during exercise. It's a scientifically validated method for calculating energy expenditure.
The Formula:Total Calories Burned = Duration (in minutes) * (MET * 3.5 * Body Weight in kg) / 200
What is a MET?A MET value represents the energy cost of an activity. A MET of 1 is equivalent to the energy you burn at rest. Walking has different MET values depending on the speed:
- Slow Pace (~3.2 km/h | 2 mph): 2.8 METs
- Moderate Pace (~4.8 km/h | 3 mph): 3.5 METs
- Brisk Pace (~6.4 km/h | 4 mph): 5.0 METs
By providing your weight, duration, and walking speed, the calculator can give you a reliable estimate of the calories you've burned.
