Binomial Expansion Calculator
This calculator provides two main functions for working with squared binomials.
1. Square of a Binomial (ax ± b)²
This tool expands a binomial containing a variable, like \((3x+5)^2\). It uses the formulas:
\( (A+B)^2 = A^2 + 2AB + B^2 \)
\( (A-B)^2 = A^2 - 2AB + B^2 \)
The result is a perfect square trinomial, and the calculator also finds its x and y-intercepts.
2. Find Unknown in (a ± b)²
This tool solves for a missing term in the basic algebraic identity, for example, finding 'b' in the equation \((5+b)^2 = 81\).
It works by rearranging the formula into a standard quadratic equation and solving for the unknown variable using the quadratic formula.
Expands the binomial \((ax \pm b)^2\) and shows the steps.
Finds the missing term in the identity \((a \pm b)^2 = \text{Result}\).
