How to Use & Interpret
This calculator helps you understand your sleep efficiency.
- Time Went to Bed: Select the time you got into bed with the intention of sleeping.
- Time Woke Up: Select the final time you woke up and got out of bed.
- Total Time Actually Asleep: Estimate the total amount of time you believe you were actually asleep during the period you were in bed. Exclude long periods of wakefulness.
- Enter hours and minutes separately.
Calculation: Sleep Efficiency (%) = (Total Time Asleep / Total Time in Bed) * 100.
General Interpretation:
- 85% or higher: Generally considered good or efficient sleep.
- 80% – 84%: Fair sleep efficiency.
- 75% – 79%: May indicate some sleep difficulties.
- Below 75%: Often considered poor sleep efficiency; may warrant discussion with a healthcare provider if persistent.
