Factoring Trinomials Calculator
How to Factor Trinomials
This calculator factors trinomials of the form \(ax^2 + bx + c\).
The 'ac' Method
- Find the product ac: Multiply the coefficient of the \(x^2\) term (a) by the constant term (c).
- Find two numbers: Find two numbers that multiply to your 'ac' product and add up to the middle coefficient (b).
- Rewrite the middle term: Split the 'bx' term into two terms using the numbers you found in the previous step.
- Factor by grouping: Group the first two terms and the last two terms, then factor out the greatest common factor from each group.
- Final factors: The result will be two binomial factors.
