Understanding Roots
Finding the nth root of a number x is the inverse operation of raising a number to the power of n.
The expression n√x = y means that yn = x.
- n is the index of the root.
- x is the radicand (the number under the root symbol).
- y is the root.
Common Roots:
- When n=2, it's a square root (e.g., √9 = 3 because 3² = 9).
- When n=3, it's a cube root (e.g., ³√27 = 3 because 3³ = 27).
Disclaimer: This tool is for educational purposes. For even roots (like square roots), the radicand cannot be negative.
