Understanding Place Value
Place value is the value of each digit in a number. For example, in the number 352, the '3' is in the hundreds place and has a value of 300, the '5' is in the tens place with a value of 50, and the '2' is in the ones place with a value of 2.
Whole Numbers: The places are Ones, Tens, Hundreds, Thousands, and so on, moving from right to left.
Decimal Numbers: For digits to the right of the decimal point, the places are Tenths, Hundredths, Thousandths, and so on, moving from left to right.
